Be Present (don't let your mind drift), Be Kind to yourself, Be Kind to others and all living species. (arauju)

Week 1
Silence allow us to be present. Shut down your radio or tv periodically as a discipline and be in silence. Try to feel yourself by saying: here i am! - breathe - who am i? (don't answer) - breathe - my body is my interface, allowing me to connect to this world - breathe - why am i here? (don't answer) - breathe - try not to think of your past, nor your future, just be here for a second or two, or three. Do this several times a day as a routine, just like you do when you take a coffee break, do it when you go to the bathroom cause it is a quiet place. Move, don't be more then 10 minutes without moving, unless it is your intent not to move. Thank you!

arauju is pronounced ara (like tara) - oo -- djoo

Week 2
Think less and less, feel life with each breath you take. Breath slowly, from the gut. Do not confuse 'not to think' with lack of awareness, on the contrary, not to think = more awareness. When we think, we judge and quantify. When we judge, we create a fictitious world around us. When we create a fictitious world around us we are living a lie. When we live a lie we are unhappy because deep inside we know it is a lie. Don't think, feel it with your breath. As you breathe be aware of your being, not your physical being, but your being, the one looking at you from the inside, the silent observer. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. They too, are on their path and it is as difficult as yours in one way or another. But life doesn't have to be difficult. I don't believe we came to this world to suffer. For the most part we suffer because we think too much. Life could be bliss if we stop thinking and become aware and do life as a ritual, a beautiful ritual. Thank you!
Week 3

Chewing gum is a pretty simple task. I started to chew gum more frequently when I quit smoking. Today I try not to chew gum as much and there is one big reason for it, it anesthetizes my vocal chords and, worse yet, my perception of being present just like sugar, alcohol, and too much food.

I know that being present requires commitment such as a healthy nutritional regime, plenty of exercise, deep breathing and staying focus on the present moment more often than not. It is a discipline that one must really want to pursue, otherwise it will never be done. A wishful thought will never take us there. Gone are the days when 'think and grow rich' was a true story. And it is not true anymore because we've realized it was a gimmick to sell books and it didn't really work. I believe in the honesty of such authors up to the point when they realized it was just a sells pitch. After that, if they insisted on pushing the same idea without further explanation than they were nothing but snake oil salespersons and my respect for them vanished suddenly. Sadly, it happened to many of my favorite authors. Cheers!
